But on my system Overlay is otherwise inferior to OGL (which can do Aspect=True without major graphical errors) and D3D (which can do Aspect=True and has the amazing CRT shader, among others). I would very much like to have a little letterboxing at the top and bottom (as is possible in Overlay) so that the pixel ratio can remain 1:1 (meaning each original game pixel (320x200), when scaled up, is displayed on the same number of LCD monitor pixels).Īgain, it's interesting to learn how Overlay is the exception. But I do not, and I find it surprising that DOSBox and several other apps I've run into don't offer finer-grained control over the OGL/D3D scaling factor. This would be more workable if I had a 1200-tall screen, as 1200 is evenly divisible by 200 and 240, two common vertical resolutions in DOS. I am frequently frustrated by the OGL and D3D renderers scaling images to my monitor's maximum vertical height (1080), which results in ugly artifacts due to different-sized pixels. But is this everything-scales-but-Overlay behavior by design? Is it a limitation of OGL/D3D? But it won't try to fill the screen as it does with any output other than surface. That way, DOSBox will not scale as much as with other outputs. I think you would like to try and set output=surface first. With OpenGL, scaling is applied to fill the scr To make it work, though, you really want to do something like:Ģ. DOSBox will scale as much as it can in general, but now the NVidia "No scaling" setting can come to effect. If there are still problems, you may revert back to opengl or some other non-surface output. If it's working but there are a few corruptions seen on the bottom of the screen, aspect=false may solve that. Truly, it will scale a bit if aspect=true is applied, and with something like scaler=normal2x it may double the dimensions or so. With OpenGL, scaling is applied to fill the screen, with some kind of aspect correction applied by DOSBox internally (i.e. ![]() DOSBox uses a fullscreen window of 1920x1080 pixels.Ģ. Fonts stored on the server are copied to local computers when activated, but in a form that can’t be shared with others and access time can be limited so as not to run afoul of licensing agreements. It installs as a preference pane on your Mac, and simply adds new features to the FontExplorer X client on that Mac. If your corporate server has an LDAP directory, it can import all the users and groups from it.Ī power user can choose to see plenty of information note that the Activation Control area shows which fonts were requested by which applications. The server lets you set up users and groups, and assign any combination of privileges to them. The server can run on any computer, and is administered through the client program. Organizations with more than a few users will want to employ the server version of FontExplorer X. Just like other leading font managers, FontExplorer X employs two programs: an invisible engine that activates at log-in to handle activation requests, and the application itself, which lets you manage your fonts and sets. The plug-ins manager is especially useful, because if the plug-ins are updated during an overall FontExplorer X update, they can be automatically pushed out to the applications that use them. The program has tools to clear your Mac’s font caches, optimize the database, and manage plug-ins. These features make it much easier to set up and support multiple designers in a workgroup, or to give you peace of mind that your carefully crafted font environment can be quickly recreated in an emergency-or on your laptop. It can identify fonts used in many kinds of documents, including RTF, PDF, EPS, SVG, Adobe InDesign CS2/CS3/CS4, and Apple Pages and Keynote. It’s as if the developers asked hundreds of designers and prepress professionals what they wanted, and then delivered everything on the list. Just like a real photographer, don't be afraid to have 20 deleted snapshots for every 1 worth keeping. Things like landscapes and portraits can be framed easily while you're out and about, but if you're after that perfect action shot, keep one finger on the screenshot button and be ready. Seriously, though: If you're playing Skyrim without an ENB/lighting effects mod installed, you're playing it wrong! Snap Early & Snap Oftenįinally, be patient. Be sure to read the instructions when installing as well these are a little more involved than your run-of-the mill mods, so make sure you've got everything where it needs to be for it to work. If you want something that you can fine tune a litle more, other ENB lighting/shading mods offer mind-boggling amounts of customization so, once again, do your research. I use the rather straightforward Superb ENB, which offers varying amounts of light as well as different shader and depth of field effects that makes talking to NPCs and exploring a much more realistic and immersive experience. The hardest thing about getting your own ENB + lighting effects suite for Skyrim will be choosing which one you want. My jaw dropped when I started up the game, the difference was just that unbelievable. I was under the impression that they would be a pain to install and that they would kill my game's performance, but I was incredibly wrong on both counts, and the overall effect is overwhelmingly gorgeous. I'd stayed away from ENB and lighting-related mods up until very recently, and I'm absolutely kicking myself for it. Though this technically counts as a mod, I couldn't help but make it a category of its own. Even if your computer isn't terribly extreme, try a couple mods out to see which ones work for you and which ones don't- surprisingly, many won't even make a noticeable dent in the game's performance. There are so many of these texture and model upgrade mods, that it's well worth taking your time to do a little research to find out which ones suit your personal aesthetic style. Bethesda's own free HD Texture DLC is a good start, but mods like Pure Waters, Skyrim Flora Overhaul and the Static Mesh Improvement Mod can make the world look even more lush and deep than it is on its own. Skyrim on its own isn't bad looking, but if you have the hardware to support it you should definitely consider some serious detail-oriented augmentations. And voila, no more cloning or cropping, just a sprawling, gorgeous screenshot. Once you're done, get the UI back by opening the (invisible) console and entering "tm" in once more. Just remember that hiding the UI also hides the console, so to get things moving you'll have to hit "~" again to close the console. Accessing the console has the bonus effect of freezing the scene, so you don't have to worry about losing that perfect candid shot while you hide the UI. Hit the "~" key to access the game console, then simply time "tm" and hit return. Unless you want to screw around with the clone tool in Photoshop, toggling the UI off is key.
